Privacy policy

Short version: the app works offline, has no account, and does not track you.

Who we are

The Hungry Ages is published by Veluna Press ("we," "us"). This policy covers the desktop app and this website. Questions go to privacy@velunapress.com.

In the app

The app has no account, no advertising, and no analytics. Your reading progress, quiz scores, achievements, and settings are stored only on your computer, and you can delete them by uninstalling the app or clearing its data folder. Share cards are saved only where you choose to save them.

License activation

When you activate a volume or the Complete Series, the app makes one connection to our activation service and sends two things:

  • Your license key, so we can confirm the purchase.
  • A device ID, a one-way fingerprint of your computer. It cannot be reversed to reveal your hardware, files, name, or location.

We keep the key, the device ID, and the activation date to enforce one active computer per license and to help you move the license later. We do not sell or share this information. If you activate by email, we receive the same two items, plus your email address and whatever you write in the message.

Purchases

First Bite and all purchases go through Payhip. For First Bite, Payhip collects only your name and email address, with no card. Payments are handled by Payhip and its payment processors. We never see or store your card number. Payhip shares your name, email address, order details, and country with us so we can deliver your download link and license keys and provide support. We will email First Bite readers only about the series, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Payhip's own privacy policy governs the checkout.

This website

  • This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own.
  • It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. If we turn on Cloudflare Web Analytics, it counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
  • The Payhip buy button loads a script from payhip.com. When you open checkout, Payhip may use cookies needed to complete the purchase.
  • Downloads are served from Cloudflare storage. We see download counts, not who downloaded.

Email

If you write to us, we use your message and email address only to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to join one.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information tied to your license key or emails, wherever you live, including under the CCPA in California and PIPEDA in Canada. Write to privacy@velunapress.com. Deleting your activation record means we can no longer help you transfer the license, so we will confirm before we do it.

Children

The app is family-friendly and collects no personal information from anyone while in use. Purchases should be made by an adult. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not start collecting new kinds of personal information from the app without saying so clearly here first.
